Inspiring Others

I get pretty jazzed up when someone tries out yoga.  I joke that I pretty much talk to everyone about yoga and that I suggest to pretty much everyone that they should give yoga a try.  But it’s true!  Just last week, a good friend of mine appeared at the yoga studio and I felt compelled to go bounding over to give her a hug and kiss to let her  know how excited I am that she is trying out a class.  Upon reflection of this action, I am learning to embrace the fact that this is just me.  This is who I am.  I get pumped when my students tell me how much yoga is helping them to relieve stress, or enhance their focus or just stretch out and feel better than they did before doing the yoga.  Yoga changed my life and my perspective on life.  It helps me stay grounded and be strong – in my mind, my body and my spirit.  I feel connected to others when I practice at the studio.  With yoga I am carving out the space and time to JUST BE.  Yoga makes me feel alive and in tune with myself.  I believe deeply that all people should have access to this kind of experience on a regular basis.

This is why I’m a coach.  I LOVE engaging with others, seeing what’s going on with them and then dialoguing about how they can grow their potential, stretch themselves with new experiences and how they can take action to make their days better and better.  I LOVE to be part of this journey of growth and change.  I LOVE to be part of the envisioning process.  I LOVE to provide that accountability that is sometimes needed to really make things happen.
So, what’s on your mind these days?  What things come to mind that you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t made happen yet?  It could be as simple as clearing your desk to make space for new creativity to happen.  It could be inserting exercise into your daily routine because you know that you will feel stronger and more relaxed as a result.  It could be starting a new venture or project.  Or, refocusing a project already in the works.  What is it for you TODAY?

Things happen when we put our focus and energy into them.  Yesterday Marie Forleo interviewed Brendon Burchard (author of The Charge) on how to feel alive and enthusiastic on a consistent basis.  Great stuff!  They invited listeners to a challenge for the next week – basically set a timer on your phone to go off every three hours or so that says “What shall I be focusing on right now?”  The purpose here being two-fold – a) you can take notice of what you are currently focusing on and b) you can choose to re-focus on something that is of greater priority to you.  So much of our days are spent in distraction mode.  Think about it.  Sure, interruptions are a part of life, but if we simply float from interruption to interruption, from this email to that email, from this particular web page to that, we won’t move forward in our true goals and projects.  By the way, yoga is one thing that I have found can really help improve your focus!

The other part of the challenge is creating a goal for yourself.  A goal that you are going to take seriously and really make happen.  For me, I have tons of goals but my tendency is to not really make them happen.  They are nice to think about and have in my mind's eye, but having a goal and then putting everything you've got into it to really make it happen is another thing.  So, here it goes for me: my goal is to be able to do five full push-ups by December 1 (on my toes!)

What's your goal?

I set my timer and I’m asking myself what I’m focusing on this week.  Why don’t you try it too?  Check out Marie’s full interview at: http://marieforleo.com/2012/08/feel-alive/.
Change your focus, change your life!  And, try yoga!  ;-)
